| The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Swiss Confederation, H.E. Mrs. Lucia Helwinda Rustam, presents her Letter of Credence to the President of the Confederation, Mr Moritz Leuenberger. |

On Tuesday 10 January 2006, at 3.00 PM, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Swiss Confederation, Her Excellency Mrs Lucia Helwinda Rustam presented her Letter of Credence, together with the Letter of Recall of her predecessor, Ambassador M. Indro Yudono, to the President of Swiss Confederation, Mr Moritz Leuenberger. |

The Credential Ceremony took place in Bern at the Federal Government Building (Bundeshaus), to which H.E. Mrs Rustam was escorted by Ambassador Willy Hold, Chief Protocol of the Swiss Department of Foreign Affairs. Following the formal presentation, H.E. Mrs Rustam held amicable talks with Mr Leuenberger and the Federal Chancellor, Ms Annemarie Huber Holz. During the discussions, both parties exchanged cordial greetings and pledged to enhance bilateral relations and further strengthen cooperation. Speaking on behalf of the Government and people of Indonesia, H.E. Mrs Rustam also expressed her heartfelt appreciation and profound gratitude to the Government and people of Switzerland for their solidarity and generous contributions to the victims of the tsunami in Aceh. For his part, Mr Lauenberger congratulated H.E. Mrs Rustam on her appointment as Ambassador and wished her every success in the fulfillment of her tenure.

H.E. Mrs Lucia H. Rustam was nominated Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Swiss Confederation last November by the President of the Republic of Indonesian, Mr Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and took up her new duties on 16 December 2005. Prior to this, she had served as Deputy Chief of Mission and Chargé d'Affaires ad interim at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Paris, a position she held from April 2004 to November 2005. H.E. Mrs Rustam is a seasoned diplomat whose political career spans almost three decades. She joined the Foreign Service in 1977 and has served in Paris, Stockholm and Geneva. |
